Payroll Annual Returns must be submitted electronically by 19th May

You must complete and file an Employer Annual Return online if you have had at least one employee during the tax year - even if you didn't have to make any deductions of PAYE or NIC from your employee(s).

The Employer Annual Return consists of:

  • Form P14 - for each employee

  • Form P35 - summary of the end-of-year payroll totals for all of your employees

  • Form P38A - for any employees not on your payroll

If you fail to file your Annual Return online by the deadline, you will be charged a penalty of £100 per 50 employees for each month that your return is late.

Your Annual Return cannot be filed in paper format. If you do file in paper format, HMRC will charge you a penalty.

If you are finding it difficult running your own payroll, or you are struggling filing your Annual Returns online, we offer a full payroll bureau service at very competitive rates. Contact us for more information and we will be happy to help.
